Intro to SUP for Kayakers: Basic Strokes & Safety (Level 1)

Find out why SUP has become the fasting growing paddlesport in the world. You already know what to do with your paddle, in this SUP for Sea Kayakers class we’ll focus on how to apply what you already know while standing up. In addition to being a great core and leg workout, SUP enhances paddle dexterity and blade control as you are forced to maneuver using a single blade.

– Learn how to paddle in a straight line without having to switch sides every few strokes!
– Learn how to maneuver your board efficiently, applying what you already know from kayaking!
– Learn important safety and rescue techniques and towing, as well as how to avoid common hazards!

SUP for the Complete Novice: Basic intro for non-kayakers

Not already a sea kayaker? No problem. Find out why SUP is the fasting growing paddlesport in recent years. In addition to being a great core, upper body and leg workout, SUP is a SUPer fun way to be on the water. This class goes beyond simply teaching you to change sides every few strokes in order to keep your board heading in a straight line.

– Learn how to paddle straight without having to switch sides!
– Learn how to maneuver your board efficiently!
– Learn important safety and rescue techniques as well as how to avoid common hazards!

SUP Level 2: Fancy Strokes and Maneuvers

Learn the strokes and footwork necessary for quick spins, pivot turns, cross-stepping, bracing (including more advanced techniques like sculling and “heel-side low brace”), draws, nose-rudders, and sideslips.

SUP for Board Surfers: Do more with your paddle

Do more with your paddle than simply sprinting forward to catch waves. Learn to use it for quick pivot turns to catch more waves, to accelerate down the line and make the section, to make more dynamic cutbacks. This class covers a variety of paddle maneuvers and bracing (including basic low and high braces, sculling braces, and the SUPer useful heel-side low brace). ┬áThis is a flat water introduction to skills you’ll then take to your favorite break.
